Sorry it has taken me so long to update our blog - as you can imagine our life is completely different now! I will try to recall what has happened since the last post. A few days after my baby shower I had a doctor appointment and with my horrendous swelling, high blood pressure and protein in my urine I was told I had preeclampsia and was put on bed rest. The plan was to get me to at least 39 weeks. Well when I was about 38 1/2 weeks I had another doctors appointment and since Josh was on spring break he was able to come with. I had a feeling the night before the appointment that this baby would be coming real soon. At the appointment my doctor decided I needed to have a non-stress to check how the baby was doing with my high blood pressure. So we walked our way over to the hospital to have the test. The baby was doing good they said but doctor said I should be induced and get labor going. This was a Friday, April 18. They gave me medication to get labor going and it sure did quite quickly! I was having regular contractions all day but not dilating at all so they upped the medication and still nothing this continued all night. During the night, while I was being checked every 15 minutes to moniter my blood pressure, the baby's heart rate was all over the place - scary! So at around 6:30 my doctor came in and told me that with the baby being stressed they needed to do a c-section and it would be in an hour! Josh and I knew our lives would change drastically in a very short while! We were excited and freaked out! After getting hooked up to what seemed like 100 more machines/medications they rolled me into the operation room and at 7:25 we had a precious and perfect baby BOY! I got to watch Joshua hold our little blessing :) Since I was all hooked up and strapped to the bed I could only look at little Weston Lee as Josh held him on me! Even though it was not how imagined meeting my little baby it was still perfect! Josh went with the doctor and nurses and Weston to get him examined and cleaned while I was getting sewn up and brought back to our room. Since I had preeclampsia they had me on some precautionary medication which made me a little out of it - sorry for anyone who visited, I was a mess!
Now to introduce you to our favorite little man, Weston Lee Van Grouw! Born April 19, 2014 at 7:25am 6 lbs 14 oz and 20 1/2 inches long!
